Bummin....

I am have been bumming for the last 36 hours.  My good friend, relative and neighbor Iris Stout passed away on Wednesday night.  Iris was an incredible lady and I wrote about my last visit with her here:

She was 103 and passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounding by one of her daughters and another neighbor who became an adopted daughter.  I will miss Iris very much.  When her obituary is published I will post a link so that you can read about what an incredible life she had and why she was special to so many people.  I will be forever thankful for the lessons about beauty and grace I learned from her.

4-H project #2

4-H project #2 was a casual dress. Lauren had to choose the pattern, the fabric, cut out the pieces and then assemble the pieces to resemble the patten.

A comment left by my aunt on yesterday's blog made me laugh! She talked about my mother and her need to make sure all seams were straight, especially on any article of clothing that will be entered in the fair. I have to admit as I was helping Lauren, the voice of my mother kept pouring out of my mouth...with such phrases as:

"Make sure you keep the edge of your fabric on the 5/8 of an inch line, you want your seam to be straight."
"If you do sew it straight you will have to unpick."
"Be careful to keep your fabric flat, otherwise you will get a bobble."
"It has to be perfect for the fair, those judges will pick it apart."
"Clip your threads, you will get marked down if you don't"
"Press all your seams flat, nothing looks worse than a bad press job."

Freaky.....is all I have to say on this matter......

Here is Lauren surging the pieces of her dress

At the iron, working on that press job.

More sewing.

The finished product!
